Scavenger Hunt

We will be holding a campus-wide scavenger hunt for sustainable spots! Prizes include a UK Dining gift card, plants courtesy of the Horticulture Club, reusable bags, bike swag from Transportation Services, and more, while supplies last. To participate, find and take pictures of each clue. Title your pictures (clue1-clue10) and email them to SustainableUKY@gmail.com. If you get all 10 right, you will receive a gift bag with all the prizes.* Submit at least 3 correct photos to receive your choice of one of the prizes.*

Here are your clues:

1. TREE TAG. UK’s urban forest provides many benefits to the campus. Shade, water and air filtration, carbon sequestration, and beauty. Several iconic and important campus tree have been labeled with tree tags that provide info specific to that tree. 
2. SOLAR GARAGE. The Solar Car Team competes in a cross country race with a student-built, sun-powered car. They build and maintain the car from a garage on campus, gaining valuable experience in engineering, renewable energy, and teamwork.
3. FOAM FREE SIGN. UK Dining and its franchise partners are eliminating the use of Styrofoam because of the environmental and health impacts of its production and disposal. Signs announcing this important move can be found in Dining locations around campus. 
4. GARDEN STOP. Public transportation reduces noise and air pollution, traffic congestion, and saves gas money. One campus bus stop is made of reclaimed wood, plants, and brings art to public transit. Find the "Garden Stop" on Euclid Avenue and Linden Walk.
5. SOLAR PANELS. Rooftop solar panels partially power two campus buildings. Renewable energy sources are an important component of our energy present and future. Campus solar systems provide students with a visual reminder of this and hands on experience through classes and assignments that utilize these arrays.  
6. FREE REFILLS. These machines eliminate waste from single use water bottles, and provide free, cold, filtered water and are now located in more than 60 campus buildings.
7. INDOOR PLANTS. Indoor air quality is crucial to student health. This new classroom building used indoor plants as a major design element on the first floor and to promote clean air. 
8. WILDCAT WHEELS. Leaving the car behind and adopting two wheels is one of the best things that you can do for the environment. This campus resource lends and repairs bikes for the campus community, take a lap around Blazer to check it out.
9. BIG BLUE PANTRY. This is a service that is offered to any UK student that might be experiencing hunger on campus. With a valid student ID you can get non-perishable goods. While you're there maybe try and donate some canned goods. Find this pantry located next to the Post Office on campus.
10. TALKING TRASH. UK Recycling works hard to increase recycling and reuse and to divert as much trash as possible from the landfill. They've designed caps placed on trash and recycling bins to encourage people to think before they toss. Find one anywhere on campus.
